Launch of Home of Blockchain.swiss at the WEF

  • Home of Blockchain.swiss aims to raise awareness for Switzerland’s leading blockchain and digital asset ecosystem, which creates a bridge between traditional finance and digital assets.

  • The public-private-partnership will release publications, host events, and run a media campaign.

  • The project unites the Swiss blockchain industry under a common brand.

Switzerland, May 19, 2022 – The Swiss Blockchain Federation, the official umbrella organization of the blockchain industry in Switzerland, is launching a global promotion initiative called Home of Blockchain.swiss at next week’s World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Home of Blockchain.swiss is a new public-private-partnership under the patronage of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Department of Finance FDF. Besides working closely with Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), the official Swiss organization for export and investment promotion, the project is also supported by Cantons from the three major language regions of Switzerland. The initiative goes live at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 9.00am at the House of Switzerland, the communication and networking hub managed by Presence Switzerland.

Together with leading blockchain players, Home of Blockchain.swiss aspires to make foreign companies aware of the many strengths and advantages Switzerland has to offer. The initiative will be releasing blockchain-related publications, participate at global conferences, and build awareness via media campaigns. The recently enacted DLT legislation, which created transparent and business-friendly framework conditions, is one of many reasons why foreign companies find Switzerland attractive.

Report showcases facts and figures of the digital asset space

As a first flagship publication, Home of Blockchain.swiss launches the Swiss Digital Asset Market Report 2022 on May 24, 2022, at the WEF in Davos. It features a survey of Swiss digital asset providers conducted by the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Science that positions the various industry segments on an ecosystem map. The report is authored by Alexander E. Brunner in collaboration with Switzerland Global Enterprise, CV VC, the Asset Management Association Switzerland, and the Eastern University of Applied Sciences.

Successful companies underscore Switzerland’s attractiveness

The high-caliber private partners of Home of Blockchain.swiss highlight the quality and diversity of Switzerland’s blockchain ecosystem. Since the early days of the technology’s development, leading blockchain protocols such as the Cardano Foundation have settled in Crypto Valley. Sygnum, the world’s first digital asset bank, offers a portfolio of regulated crypto banking and investment services out of its Zurich hub. Recently, the crypto exchange FTX made headlines by choosing Switzerland as its European headquarters. The co-founders of 21Shares, a rapidly expanding issuer of crypto ETPs, selected Switzerland out of 25 different jurisdictions when establishing their companies. Atomyze demonstrates the broad applications of blockchain technology by tokenizing the commodities industry.

Further ecosystem actors contribute to the success of Home of Blockchain.swiss. In addition to Switzerland Global Enterprise, they include the Swiss Blockchain Federation, the Asset Management Association Switzerland, and CV VC. Several prominent voices have expressed their strong support of the initiative.

Heinz Tännler, President of the Swiss Blockchain Federation and Minister of Finance of the Canton of Zug, states: “The potentials of blockchain technology are endless and Switzerland’s Crypto Valley is at the forefront of this revolution. Now is the time to seize this opportunity. With Home of Blockchain.swiss, the good reputation of Switzerland will be communicated around the world.”

Alexander E. Brunner, President of Home of Blockchain.swiss and author of the forthcoming Swiss Digital Asset Market Report 2022, is proud of this industry-wide effort: “How the Swiss blockchain and digital asset industry has come together behind this initiative is simply incredible. We are grateful for this support and look forward to representing Switzerland on the world stage.”

Sirpa Tsimal, Director Investment Promotion at Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), comments: “Switzerland Global Enterprise supports your international expansion project, from evaluating Switzerland as a potential location for your business to setting up local operations. The unified approach of Home of Blockchain.swiss perfectly complements the investment promotion activities of the Swiss Business Hubs in our target markets and regions.”
